Grace and Peace Youth (6th-12th) is the youth ministry here at Grace and Peace Church. We meet every Friday @ 8PM for weekly Bible Study/crafts/fellowship and on Sundays @ 11:30AM for our worship service. We welcome you to come visit us and see if we can be your home community of faith in your Christian journey.
A Chinese boy who wanted to learn about jade went to study with a talented old teacher. This gentleman put a piece of the stone into the youth’s hand and told him to hold it tight. Then he began to talk of philosophy, men, women, the sun, and almost everything under it. After an hour he took back the stone and sent the boy home. The procedure was repeated for weeks. The boy became frustrated—when would he be told about jade?—but he was too polite to interrupt his venerable teacher. Then one day when the old man put a stone into his hands, the boy cried out instantly, “That’s not jade!”1
Teenage years is all about finding and developing one’s identity and more importantly, one’s worldview of how he or she will understand the world. We at Grace and Peace Youth seek to instill biblical truths as the all-important glasses through which we will peer into the world. When we learn the Word of God and grow in our faith and love for Christ, we are better able to discern between good and evil, truth and deception, and eternity and temporal. We seek to build our identity not on what the world tells us, but on how we are defined by God who created us and loves us and sent his son Jesus to pay for our sins. We seek to be followers of Christ!
